Beware of higher gas prices when you pay using a credit card. This came to light at a
Tom Thumb gas station. (Tom Thumb grocery stores offer gas reward points when shopping at their stores.)
NBC5 News has investigated their 10c per gallon price increase for those using credit cards which is illegal in Texas as it is unlawful to charge an additional amount/surcharge for credit card transactions. Tom Thumb's response was that they do not charge more for credit card transactions - they charge 10c per gallon less for those using cash or debit cards which is within the law. Make sure you look at the signs which do state the lower prices are for cash or debit cards.
