Moms and grandmas love paintings made by their little ones, but they can end up just stuck on the fridge. For a great gift have them paint an abstract painting using the decor colors of a room (three is a good number to stop at). Pick a frame with individual places for pictures and cut from each painting to fit the opening.
Note: If the children are young, have them use one color and let it dry before adding the next color. Otherwise they tend to swirl the colors into a muddy mess.
The remainder of the paintings can be used to cut into bookmarks (cover with contact paper to last longer. Make a hole in one end and put ribbon through it for an added touch)
