Sometime ago I discontinued cable and bought an antenna which I've been satisfied with, but occasionally I like to watch movies. There are several places you can view movies or catch up on TV shows.
Hulu is free. Hulu Plus has more choices but at a monthly charge.
Try Hulu Plus free for 7 days.
Acorn TV has a numerous selection of British shows. Sign up for 30 day free trial.
Netflix also offers 30 day free trial. I wasn't happy with the access to Netflix through my laptop. The audio and video were never in sync so I gave up.
PBS.org has a great list of shows and programs you can watch online. Of course Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife are my favorites.
Amazon Prime also has a 30 day free trial which allows for free shipping on other purchases and e-books to borrow free of charge.
Of course there's always the local library where you can order DVD movies online and pick them up at the library. Most libraries allow you to keep DVDs for a week.
If you know of any other places to watch movies online, please leave a comment.
Happy viewing.
Several people have asked me how to connect a computer or laptop to the television. Systems vary but I found most of them require a nine pin video cable and an audio cable (mine came with my laptop). Check YouTube for informational videos if you're not sure how to connect the cables. Once you have connected them you will need to change your menu on the television - the menu choice on mine is PC.
