Credit Cards

Beware of credit card rate hikes. You should receive a notice in the mail or on your statement before the interest is increased. If you have a good history with the credit card company they may prefer to lower the rate rather than losing you as a customer so let them know you plan to close the account if the interest is higher than elsewhere. Find out what interest rates are at other institutions beforehand and quote those.

Work toward paying off your balance each month so that the interest rate doesn't affect you.

Everyone is different in the way they handle their money and what works for one person might not work for another. I choose to use a credit card with a high interest rate because it stops me from overspending and makes me stay within the limit that I can pay each month.
