Squeeze lemon over the teaspoons. I used the lemon to also rub the lemon juice on any stained areas (you can also do this with a stainless steel mug). Leave for ten minutes.

Melt 2 tsp sugar in 1 cup of hot water. Pour over the teaspoons. Use steel wool to scrub off the remaining stains.

Note: Many of the comments with the video suggested not using steel wool as it scratches the surface and will incur more stains in the future.

The items were very flimsy and not at all like the items which supposedly offer support in the videos. (there was no return information or in fact any information contained in the package).

The other thing I failed to review was their return policy which shows that they won't refund items that are the incorrect size and returns have to be sent to England (even though the package shows it was shipped from California.) Even with a refund, half the amount would be spent on returning the items to England and also incur customs forms both of which seems to be a deterrent from returning items. Their office is shown as Boulder, Colorado on the Better Business Bureau site.

I don't understand why companies don't want satisfied customers or those who would re-purchase items, surely this would considerably reduce the cost of advertising. But sadly this seems to be the way our world is going these days with substandard service and customers who are no longer valued.

Tips for online purchasing from Better Business Bureau here.

Ann Summervillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13300190648788509096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6193528946891342917.post-55410353757478864222022-06-13T15:01:00.003-05:002022-06-13T15:01:38.630-05:00Growing Vegetables from Kitchen Scraps
With food prices soaring, I'm making full use of my vegetable garden this year and have been watching a lot of You Tube gardening tip videos. One I really like, from Australia, is Self Sufficient Me. Mark has lots of good tips on growing vegetables and one experiment he did was re-growing kitchen scraps. It's worth a try and doesn't cost anything. I'll post later if I have any success following his guidelines.

They simply file a fake deed with the court to transfer your property to them. There have been ads lately for companies who will keep track of any fraudulent court filings, but most counties in the U.S. will allow you to sign up for a free notification service. It's well worth taking the time to do so. Check with your local country clerk.

Ann Summervillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13300190648788509096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6193528946891342917.post-88294975132689046152021-04-20T05:00:00.042-05:002021-04-20T05:00:00.205-05:00Earth Day - Recycling

The grandkids are busy trying to find items to make for school recycle projects for earth day.
Slice and peel peaches and place in a microwave safe dish.

In a separate bowl add 2 tsp brown sugar, 2 tsp flour, 2 tsp margarine (cut in small pieces), dash of cinnamon. Stir together.

Spread mix on top of the peaches and microwave for 1 1/2 minutes.

(you can also use this recipe using granny smith apples)

Hand sanitizer information is confusing. And you can't rely on the active ingredients on the label being accurate.

The label on some products (most produced in Mexico) show they contain ethanol/ethyl alcohol when they actually are made with methanol or wood alcohol which can be absorbed through the skin and cause serious harm. Keep up with information from the FDA website and check if your sanitizer is on the FDA recall list.
If you haven't watched Steve Noviello on his Save Me Steve segment, he's well worth following. He recently interviewed one of the owners of Scriptco Pharmacy, an online pharmacy located in Waco, Texas. Scriptco are licensed in several states and different from other pharmacies because they sell their drugs at cost.
Hard to believe, I know, but they run their business like a co-op and charge an annual membership fee ($120 a year).
They plan to expand to all 50 U.S. states.

WRONG!

They don't make it clear in the store that clothing cannot be returned although they have a notice stating that paper goods and other items cannot be returned. Even online it shows that returning items is "easy"

But after clicking on several options I came across the statements below. All very confusing.

<span style="font-family: BogleWeb, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Returns are available for nearly everything Walmart sells. We recommend keeping track of all manufacturer packaging and your receipt for a minimum of 90 days after purchase.
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: BogleWeb, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">

Temporary Return Policy Change

Effective: April 20, 2020

We are temporarily not processing returns/exchanges in our stores of: food, paper goods, home cleaning supplies, laundry soap, pharmacy, health & beauty and apparel.

If you need to return any item, including those above, and have a receipt, please start your return on the Walmart app or at Walmart.com. It’s easy and may allow you to complete your return without coming to the store.

If you’re not able to return the item online, don’t worry! Once returns reopen for impacted categories, we will be extending the return period by 6 weeks for those items.

By the way, starting a return on Walmart.com doesn't work because you need a 13 digit order number which isn't on the receipt.

So it's probably best not to purchase clothing at Walmart because if it doesn't fit you will be out that money for who knows how long and may not be refunded at all.

Look online for what will grow in your area. I usually check on the Texas A & M site for planting guides. Seeds are fairly cheap so if you're at home during the Coronavirus and have time on your hands it would be rewarding to start a garden or even grow vegetables in pots.
Even Netflix binges are accompanied by a flurry of knitting needles and yarn and the outcome is a a pile of soft toys, baby hats or whimsy gifts.

So here are a list of things you could do to occupy your time while shelter-in-place orders are still enforced.

1. Learn a craft, crochet, knitting or quilting. You Tube has a lot of great tutorials. (And you can order supplies online or if you're grocery shopping at Walmart they have a good craft section) Joann's has curbside pickup.

2. If you have a sewing machine make masks. I've been passing them out to friends and neighbors.

3. Look into your family history. Ancestry and Find my Past have free trial memberships. Look at my blog post on Genealogy for ideas. My suggestion would be to set up a family tree, with information you know, on Family Search. This is run by LDS and is always free. After your free trial on the other sites (do them concurrently) you won't have access to anything you set up so just use them for research.

4. Start watching a bible podcast. Bible Recap offers podcasts for reading the bible in a year (I access it on You Tube)

5. Learn a language. I had been taking Spanish classes at the library but am now using Duolingo and also Que Hora Es on You Tube.

6. Join a book club. There are lots of online book clubs and you can order books through Kindle or most libraries offer e-books. My library is continuing book club meetings via Zoom.

7. Start a blog. You don't have to make it public and it would be a good way of keeping in touch with a group of people whether it's relatives or friends. Perhaps you could all contribute to genealogy research on a blog.

8. Clean out closets and drawers. Do It On a Dime has low cost ideas for organizing and Dollar Tree is still open.

9. The weather is perfect for gardening here in Texas. Start a vegetable garden, pull some weeds, put a bird feeder out (the birds seem to be a lot happier now our world is less noisy).

10. Make teacher gifts for teacher appreciation week. Even though they are at home and schools are closed, teachers are still working hard to give out projects and lessons to the children and working through the online maze. Gift cards can be ordered online. You may need to just leave the gifts on your porch and ask the teachers to pick them up if they don't feel comfortable giving addresses or you could meet them at the school or local park (at a safe distance).

11. Start a journal and write down daily blessings both blessings you have given others and you've seen others do. There is so much good going on around us in the midst of this crisis.

Stay safe everyone and please limit time watching the news.Ann Summervillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13300190648788509096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6193528946891342917.post-41935997456281317982020-04-20T18:32:00.001-05:002020-04-20T18:38:24.541-05:00What To Do When Beauty Salons Are Closed?Because of the Corona Virus Pandemic, beauty salons are closed and I've noticed that some of the newscasters and other TV celebrities have longer than usual hair with dark roots showing.

Now would be a great time to experiment with different hair colors. Try one that washes out to see if you like the shade, but regardless of how it turns out no one is going to see you, except on Zoom, for a while.

If you, or your children's hair is one length a Crea Clip works great for getting a straight hair cut. I bought hair scissors at Walmart and have been cutting my own hair for about a year now. You Tube has great videos to help you.

For pedicures, if you don't have a foot soak bowl, dish bowls at Walmart are under $4.

Remove nail polish

Soak feet (Epsom salts work well - Dollar Tree is a good place to get this or any pharmacy)

Use a foot file/shaver or pumice on hard skin

Dry feet

Trim and file nails

Apply nail polish

An at home manicure isn't difficult (look at You Tube for help) but I also found these stick on nails at Walmart for around $7. I may save these for a post-shelter-at-home party.
I don't use them often and mostly use a homemade spray for cleaning, but they are handy for quick cleaning. I suppose everyone is obsessed with keeping the Corona Virus at bay and the shelves were empty. I'm a big fan of Kathryn at Do It On A Dime and found a video for making a homemade version of disinfecting wipes.
